Jarryd Hayne is still looking forward to getting back into the San Francisco 49ers’ active roster with only four games remaining in the 2015-2016 NFL regular season.

Hayne has yet to feature in an NFL game after getting dropped to the 49ers practice squad last month. But the Australian rugby league star is still positive about cracking into the team’s active rotation, insisting that the setback made him “ready” if he gets called up.

"I'm very confident, so much more confident than when I was out on the field before,” Hayne told the Sydney Morning Herald. “It put me in good stead, my biggest thing is just training hard and what comes about, comes about."

Hayne also understands the business part of American football, where there is uncertainty of being recalled into the active lineup. But the 27-year-old rookie was hopeful that his continuous work ethic during practice sessions could lead to another run on the playing field.

“It’s starting to get to a point now where hopefully I may be getting a call up but you just don’t know ... it’s a business over here and you literally have to keep doing your thing and hope to get the call up,” Hayne said, reports Fox Sports.

Hayne almost had a chance to once again wear his no. 38 jersey after Bruce Ellington muffed two punts in two straight games, with the US media backing the Australian punter to get another chance for a playing time.

Ellington, who replaced Hayne in the punt return job, was able to save his role with the 49ers following their 26-20 win over the Chicago Bears to an improved 4-8 record. However, San Francisco’s playoff hopes are already ruined, suggesting that they could still try to play Hayne in the remaining games.
