The Huawei Honor 8 Pro is a 5.7-inch handset, catering to the upper-midrange segment. It boasts some impressive hardware specs and some compelling features such as a non-removable 4,000 mAh battery and a dual-camera setup.

The handset is powered by a 6GB RAM and Huawei's latest home-made octa-core processor. The hefty battery makes it a bit chubby to hold, though the metal build definitely gives it a premium feel. It’s available in Pearl White, Midnight Black and Navy Blue colours. The glass screen curves at the edge to meet the body. The rear-mounted fingerprint scanner can also be used to browse through photos and call up the notification panel. One of the 12MP camera sensors shoots colour images, whereas, the other one shoots only in black and white.

The camera setup is very much similar to that of the Huawei P10’s, though the latter has higher resolutions, and hoots stunning images, also in black and white. The handset is already available for pre-order in the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Switzerland. It carries a price tag of £475 (AU$770 approx). There is no word yet on the handset’s availability in Australia or the US. The Huawei Honor 8 Pro’s screen resolution is 2,960 x 1,440 pixels with a pixel density of 515ppi, writes CNET.

It runs on Android 7.0 Nougat operating system and also has the Emotion UI 5.1. It uses the Mali-G71 MP8 GPU. Internal storage capacity of the handset is 64GB, expandable up to 256GB via microSD card. The dual 12MP front cameras have f/2.2, phase detection and laser autofocus and dual-LED (dual tone) flash. Other features include geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, HDR and panorama. The camera records 2160p videos @30fps and 1080p@60fps. The secondary camera is of 8MP with f/2.0 and 1080p. The handset is capable of recording 4K videos.

The Huawei Honor 8 Pro has USB Type-C ports for faster charging and data transfer. The smartphone’s screen has a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. On the other hand, the Huawei P10 has a 5.1-inch display with a screen resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels and pixel density of 431ppi. It has a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The primary camera has a 20MP monochrome sensor and a 12MP RGB sensor. The secondary camera is of 8MP. It runs on the Nougat OS, and is powered by a Huawei Kirin 960 processor.
