The HTC Vivid is one of the recent smartphone models that HTC released. The current release of the HTC Vivid in the market means that it is competition with Apple's current product which is the iPhone 4S.

In terms of Physical features, both phones have their own advantages and disadvantages. Screen size for the HTC Vivid has a measure of 4.5 inches which is bigger than the screen size of iPhone 4S which is 3.5 inches. The iPhone 4S has the same built with the iPhone 4 and the only difference is the fine print located at the back. The HTC Vivid weighs around 135 grams and has a dimension of 135.5 x 67.9 x 8.9 mm. On the other hand, iPhone 4S comes with 115.2 x 58.6 x 9.3 mm and weighs 140 grams. Based on the measurement size of both phones, the HTC Vivid is slightly on the heavier side despite the fact that it is a touch screen phone. As for screen details, the HTC Vivid has 540-by-960-pixel, 262K color, TFT capacitive touch screen while the iPhone 4S has 960-by-640 16.7M-color IPS LCD capacitive touch screen. Both phones have cameras (8MP) with flash, 802x11 capability, Bluetooth as well as Web Browser function. Both phones also have the candy bar as its form factor.

The biggest difference between the two smartphones have from each other is the OS that it utilizes. For the HTC Vivid, it is running on Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread while the iPhone 4S is using the just released iOS 5 which comes with 200 new features. Despite that advantage, HTC announced the company's plans for upgrading their OS to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich after the Holiday season. Aside from the difference of OS between HTC Vivid and iPhone 4S, the lack of 4G capability is also a game changer when comparing these smartphones. The HTC Vivid has the 4G capability and this feature allows HTC Vivid users to access both LTE and HSPA+ 4G speeds that gives them reliable connection in areas where this is applicable. The same convenience could not be said with Apple's iPhone 4S because it is not yet capable of the 4G feature.

The iPhone 4S was already made available in the Australian market since Oct. 2011. As for the HTC Vivid, no official release date has been revealed for the availability of the HTC Vivid in Australian shores.
