The new Fox series “Gotham” has returned after a month-long hiatus. The last four episodes of the season bring the tension between detective Jim Gordon and Commissioner Loeb to an all-time high. Likewise, the introduction of “Heroes” star Milo Ventimiglia as the Ogre gives Jim and the rest of the force a tough challenge to overcome. [Spoiler Alert!]

On episode 19, “Beasts of Prey,” Jim was presented with an unsolved case by a young police officer. He and his partner Harvey discovered that the case was planted in his hands by Commissioner Loeb in an attempt to dissuade him from his mission to clean up the corruption in the force.

It turns out that the case relates to a serial killer known as the Ogre, a man who systematically seduces women and kidnaps them. Once the women prove to be inadequate to his twisted needs, he kills them and moves o to the next one. He has never been caught because he goes after the loved ones of the investigating officers. When Jim learns about this, he fears for his girlfriend Lesley, but it seems like he will get hit through someone else that’s close to him.

In the promo video of episode 20 released by Fox, Ventimiglia as the Ogre is seen with Jim’s ex-girlfriend Barbara. The two of them appear to be on a date and the Ogre has clearly chosen Barbara as his next victim due to Jim’s persistent investigation of his case. [Video below]

Jim is intent on capturing the Ogre and has vowed to go after Commissioner Loeb once the criminal is arrested. He had initially feared for the life of his current girlfriend, Dr Lesley Thompson, but he will be blindsided when the Ogre targets his ex. It remains to be seen how his efforts to save Barbara will affect his relationship with Lesley.

Meanwhile, the episode promo also shows a snippet of Edward Nygma holding a bloody knife while letting out a sinister laugh. The last few episodes will see his final transition into another iconic “Batman” villain called “The Riddler.”

Bruce Wayne is als on a mission to clean up Wayne Enterprises with the help of his friend Selena Kyle. With Alfred injured, the pair of teenagers set out on a dangerous adventure. The last three episodes of “Gotham” are expected to air uninterrupted weekly starting next Monday at 9 p.m. on Fox.
