Good news to Google Nexus 5 holders from Sprint, the U.S-based network was reported to roll out the Android 4.4.3 Kitkat OS update today.

According to BGR, Sprint quietly updated its support pages for the Nexus 5 and it was known that the smartphone will be getting a new software update starting today. The carrier said that the Android build KTU48F for the Nexus 5 will enable the Sprint Spark band 26 and band 41 as well as other Android updates that the carrier did not specify in its initial change log.

According to Android Police, Android 4.4.3 has a build code of KTU48F, which was leaked early this month as the rumoured next KitKat version. The publication added that other Nexus devices will receive the 4.4.3 Kitkat OS update soon but it did not give a definite date.

A change log leaked and suggested that Google will mostly address several bugs in Android 4.4.3, with a recent report from the same Android Police saying Google is currently testing Android 4.4.3 internally. The Android 4.4.3 is expected to bring a massive bug fix update. However, users must not expect any cosmetic changes or any new features. Google might save new features and UI changes for the next major version of Android. Other bug fixes that will be included in the Kitkat update are:

  • Frequent data connection dropout fix
  • Camera focus fix
  • Power Manager display wakelock fix
  • Multiple Bluetooth fixes
  • Random reboot fix
  • USB debugging security fix
  • Wi-Fi auto-connect fix
  • Stuck in activation screen fix
  • Missed call LED fix
  • VPN Fix

It is still unclear when other Nexus devices will get the Android 4.4.3. Google usually roll out new Android updates during the working week rather than the weekend. Moreover, the update was rolled out in stages. This means that some users will receive the latest update first until Google has ensured smooth delivery of the OS update.
