Jameis Winston, the Florida State quarterback currently making sports headlines as one of the aspiring Seminoles' starters this season, jokingly told reporters he would strive hard to stay from or to become infected with the Manziel disease. Of course there's no such disease, he's referring to the spotlight and criticisms that rained on Texas A&M quarterback, Johnny Manziel.

"If I ever get Manziel disease, I want all of you to smack me in the head with your microphones," Winston cheekily told the reporters. He naturally made clear that his words did not intend to insult Johnny Manziel, who he thinks is a nice, decent guy.

Jamies Winston is a two-sport star who also plays baseball. He is currently fighting redshirt sophomore Jacob Coker to land as Florida State's starting quarterback, replacing EJ Manuel. Manuel is currently busy vying for a spot with NFL's Buffalo Bills.

Winston is known for his gregarious personality, which stands in stark contrast with Coker's more quiet and reserved attitude. Not that they're fighting for the title of Mr Personality; but Winston's outgoing attitude certainly earned him some points among sports fans and the press. It comes as no surprise that he would make Manziel's case a joke instead of a direct jab against the controversial player. As evidence of his quirkiness, Winston ended his session with the reporters on Sunday by dropping the mic and subjected the reporters to a session filled with funny and witty one-liners.

Manziel is accused of receiving money from memorabilia dealers for signed autographs in January. This case stands to make him eligible from playing. He was also heavily criticised for saying he overslept at Manning Passing Academy, getting a partaking ticket, and showing up at a fraternity house of his archrival. All these showing unstable character, not fitting for a budding football player.
