“Civilization VI” has surprised fans yet again with some new stuff. This time it is an 800MB patch and it’s a big holiday surprise as the update includes the new playable civilisation, Poland. Another is a “Winter Update” that introduces a few tweaks and fixes for the core game. It’s the paid pieces of DLC that introduces the new civilisation and some new scenarios.

The patch notes can be found at the “Civilization VI” page. However, Poland seems to be insanely powerful, led by Jadwiga. Moreover, the Vikings scenario, “Vikings, Raiders, and Traders” is also included in the update. The other scenario is “Jadwiga’s Legacy.” The last one pits three Polish empires to defend their countries from invaders in 60 turns. The player who makes the best score wins.

The “Vikings, Raiders, and Traders” scenario has 100 turns and it uses Danish, Norwegian and Swedish Vikings to trade, conquer and grow their civilisation for the best possible score. Players have to keep their homeland’s stability through trade and they can also conquer cities in France and England. Players need to purchase the premium DLC to play the recently released “Civilization VI” update.

The Viking and Poland scenarios and the Polish civilisation will be available to players at the very onset if they own the season pass. The “Civilization VI” Poland and Viking packs are completely free if players have the game’s Digital Deluxe version, reports Kotaku. The Poland civilisation costs US$5 (AU$7 approx). This also comes with the scenario that is about defending Central Europe from the Teutonic Knights and Ottomans.

The Viking scenario pack also costs the same and adds three new natural wonders, six new city-states and the already mentioned 100-turn scenario. Many are surprised because of Firaxis taking this route. It seems the developer will gradually expand the game after two massive expansions that introduced a lot of changes to the gameplay and also added multiple civilisations.
