Bayern Munich are reportedly continuing their work on a deal to sign Liverpool FC forward Sadio Mane.

Mane has just a year left on his contract with Liverpool. There have been developments in the talks between the winger's agent and the Bavarian club, according to Sky Germany. The Bundesliga club is expected to pay around $53 million for the Senegalese forward.

Bayern Munich are looking at Mane as a possible replacement for their star forward Robert Lewandowski, who is well on his way out in the summer, according to soccer outlet Bayern Strikes. However, there have been no negotiations between Liverpool and Bayern as yet over a possible transfer for Mane.

It is also understood that since Kylian Mbappe is staying at Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), Bayern Munich is currently leading the race for Mane. The Ligue 1 champions were looking at Mane as one of the candidates to replace Mbappe this summer.

Mane and Liverpool are currently focussing on the upcoming UEFA Champions League final against Real Madrid, which is scheduled to take place on May 28 in Paris. There could be more clarity regarding Mane's future at Anfield once the season comes to an end for Jurgen Klopp and Co.

Earlier it was reported that Mane was upset because Liverpool made Mohamed Salah's contract extension a priority. Since the contract talks at Liverpool are "faltering," Bayern Munich are keen to make Mane their "statement transfer."

Liverpool recently lost the Premier League title by just a point. The Reds ended the league campaign with a 3-1 win over Wolves, with Mane among the goal scorers for Klopp's side. With 16 goals in 34 matches, the 30-year-old finished as 2021-22 Premier League's fifth leading goal scorer. Overall, the Senegalese star has netted 23 goals and five assists with one game remaining in the Anfield side's campaign.
