The National Basketball Association (NBA) is widely considered to be the premier men's professional basketball in the world. NBA, which is a member of USA Basketball, features dynasties that dominate the league for years. It has franchised 29 member clubs in the USA and one in Canada. Here are the five oldest teams in the NBA.

1. San Antonio Spurs

San Antonio Spurs is the current NBA champion led by head coach Gregg Popovich. Spurs, with five championships (2014, 2007, 2005, 2003 and 1999), is the oldest team in the league. It is one of the four teams that remained intact after the ABA-NBA merger in 1976. San Antonio Spurs has the highest winning percentage of any professional sports team.

2. Dallas Mavericks

The second oldest in the league, Dallas Mavericks holds the longest currently running sellout streak in North American major league sports. As of the 2013 season, Mavericks has sold out 477 consecutive games. Since their inaugural season, Dallas Mavericks has only one NBA championship in 2011.

3. Washington Wizards

The Washington Wizards began playing as the Chicago Packers in 1961 and then a year after its name was changed to Chicago Zephyrs. The franchise moved to several states until it finally became the Washington Wizards. Off to a great start in the 2014-2015 season, the Washington Wizards is hopeful to progress to the conference finals after beating the Chicago Bull but later on lost to Indiana Pacers.

4. Memphis Grizzlies

The Memphis Grizzlies talents are led by the efforts of the 33-year-old Zach Randolph, 32-year old Tony Allen, and 30-year old Marc Gasol. Memphis Grizzlies was established in Vancouver, British Columbia in 1995 and relocated to Memphis in 2001. The team is currently led by head coach Dave Joerger and general manager Chris Wallace.

5. Cleveland Cavaliers

From being one of the youngest teams in NBA, Cleveland Cavaliers became one of the oldest teams in the league. This season, LeBron James re-joined the team with Kevin Love. Mike Miller, who is known to be LeBron's lucky charm, was also imported by the Cavaliers through free agency.
