Seeded players Novak Djokovic of Serbia, Milos Raonic of Canada, Andy Murray of Great Britain and John Isner of the United States of America avoided upsets in the second round of the men’s singles competition of the 2014 US Open.

Their respective wins bring them to the third round or the Round of 32. The other half of the second round will be played on Friday (Saturday in Australia).

All the top seeds won in straight sets except for Raonic, who finished off his opponent in four sets.

Top seed Djokovic overwhelmed France's Paul Henri-Mathieu, 6-1, 6-3, 6-0; 13th seed Isner outlasted Germany's Jan-Lennard Struff, 7-6 (5), 6-4, 6-2; eighth seed Murray cruised to the win over Germany's Matthias Bachinger, 6-3, 6-3, 6-4 and fifth seed Raonic defeated Germany's Peter Gojowczki, 7-6 (4), 5-7, 6-4, 7-6 (3).
