Recently, a Zimbabwean man was brought to court when he was found making love with a donkey tied to a tree outside his home in Zvishavane. Sunday Moyo, 28, claimed that he fell madly and deeply in love with a prostitute that he hired for $20.

According to Moyo, the girl turned to a donkey which left him no choice but to show his love in his own way.

He was arrested by the local police at 4 am when he was caught in the act having sex with the donkey. Bestiality was charged and Moyo defended himself through his statements.

"I don't know how she then became a donkey," he reportedly told the court.

"I only came to know that I was being intimate with a donkey when I got arrested."

What is Bestiality?

Bestiality refers to having sex or doing sexual acts with animals. It is sometimes used interchangeably with Zoophilia. But these terms are not exactly the same. Bestiality is defined specifically as the act of having sexual intercourse, while Zoophilia is a broader term which means having a sexual relationship with animals. This includes preference of animal partners over human and the desire to have sex and intimate relationship with animals.

In most places and countries, bestiality is an illegal act. Countries like Zimbabwe, Saudi Arabia, and those which place a high value on specific animals like cows, horses, and many more consider bestiality a crime.

Why Bestiality is Dangerous?

Aside from ending up in jail, bestiality is very dangerous. It is among the most common cause of sexually transmitted disease. In fact, HIV was originated from organisms transmitted when a woman allegedly had sex with a primate (monkey) in Africa. Having sex with animals can give you different microorganisms – bacteria and deadly viruses!

National Agricultural Safety Database (NASD) and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) listed some infection caused by bestiality or better known as the zoonoses. It includes Brucellosis, Echinococcosis, Salmonella, and Toxocariasis or dog roundworm. Aside from that, bestialitioners have also higher risks of having leptospirosis, and Q Fever.

Physical injuries are also common to bestialitioners. Most animals normally bite to show sexual excitement and foreplay. And of course, animal bites can cause rabies and other diseases. Allergies may cause anaphylactic reaction that can immediately lead to sudden death.

So, would you still consider making love to animals?
