Olly Murs reportedly had an awkward attempt at flirting with Jennifer Lawrence when he was asked to assist his “X-Factor UK” co-star and show judge Nick Grimshaw to interview the cast of “The Hunger Games” on his “Radio 1 Breakfast Show.” Murs’ wish to get a kiss from the actress was unfortunately not granted, and the “X-Factor UK” host himself admitted on social media that he had failed at flirting with JLAW.

In the video below, Murs and Grimshaw are seen sitting opposite Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson. It’s very apparent that Murs is also suffering from a spell of shyness from having to sit in front of his celebrity crush. He only warmed up a little after Grimshaw introduced him and said, “Olly is the biggest Jennifer Lawrence fan in the world.”

However, the awkward exchange of words between Lawrence and Murs happened when the interview turned rather personal. The singer started asking Lawrence awkward questions about kissing scenes and who her ideal man was.

“What’s it like kissing someone that you’re friends with on camera?” Murs is heard asking the actress, alluding to her kissing scene with real-life friend Hutcherson in “The Hunger Games” movies.

Lawrence candidly replied that it actually makes the kissing scene “easier” to do. She then jokingly added, “I always say I’m taking bottom lip because I like bottom lip…”

However, the actress admitted that she doesn’t follow the same preference in real life because she would rather just go with the moment, or as what she told Murs, just “let the cards fall as they may.”

Murs also asked other series of questions during their “Radio 1 Breakfast Show” interview including her skills in archery. However, in the end, he expressed his adoration for Lawrence, telling her that she’s a “superb actress” since she can “pretty much do anything.”

It got really awkward, thereafter, when Grimshaw told Lawrence about Murs being all shy during the interview because he actually wanted to kiss her. The actress had a classic response to the singers' request. Instead of kissing him, she reached out to give Murs a hug.

Murs even documented the awkward interview and his failed attempt to flirt with the actress on his Twitter page. The “X-Factor UK” host shared a photo of him and Lawrence smiling at the camera. He captioned the shot, “Haha seriously need to go back to flirting school after meeting Miss Lawrence @grimmers @R1Breakfast.”
