When Microsoft had rolled out the first Windows 10 Technical Preview for phones in February with the build number 8.1.142.19.341, only six Lumia handsets like the Lumia 630, the Lumia 635, the Lumia 636, the Lumia 638, the Lumia 730 and the Lumia 830 could receive it. In the previous week, it was revealed by Microsoft that the next technical preview build would support more devices.

Microsoft through its official blog post that was published on March 27 claims that the reason behind making the first preview available only for limited devices was that it had to select only those handsets that had enough system partition sizes allocated by the manufacturer. The new partition stitching feature from Microsoft has enabled it modify the size of the system partition dynamically. Hence, the Redmond giant’s next Windows 10 Mobile preview build will support more number of Lumia devices.

Apart from the aforementioned Lumia devices, the following Lumia smarpthones that will second Windows 10 technical preview:

Microsoft adds that if it finds bugs related to a particular device, it may remove that device it from the list. If any Lumia device is not mentioned on the above list, it indicates that Microsoft has encountered a bug on that device and it will be fixed before the release of the next build.

Gabriel Aul, the Engineering General Manager with Microsoft and the one who is in-charge of the Insider program for Windows 10, states that it is not possible to reveal the exact release date of the next preview build for all the Lumia devices. However, on the official Microsoft blog, he states that it will take “at least one more week” for all devices to receive the next build.
