During the WinHEC (Windows Hardware Engineering Community) Shenzhen 2015 conference that was held in the previous week, various new features of the Windows 10 for phones were announced officially by Microsoft. The presentations that were shown during the WinHEC conference carried the “Windows 10 Mobile” moniker for the Windows 10 OS for mobile devices.

4K Video Recording And HDR Support

The Windows 10 camera app is expected to bring support for 4K video recording, ability to zoom in while shooting a video, independent control of flash, video HDR and many more, reports Nokia Power User (NPU).

Wi-Fi Direct And WI-Fi HotSpot 2.0

Wi-Fi Direct and Wi-Fi Hotspot 2.0 are going to arrive on Windows 10. Wi-Fi Direct allows users to establish connection with each other without joining a Wi-Fi Network. Wi-Fi HotSpot 2.0 will allow users to use one SSID for multiple network connections.

Bluetooth Features

Windows 10 will bring support for various audio enhancements Bluetooth features such as, Wideband speech that brings HD voice quality and apX audio codecs that offers stereo quality audio output through A2DP.

NFC With HCE Support

With HCE onboard, NFC enabled Windows 10 devices will not require an exclusive app or a secure SIM from the carrier to make a payment at the POS terminal. NPU says that the Redmond giant is already working with VISA, MasterCard and Amex to launch this feature.

Smart Dial And Yellow Books

According to NPU via ITHome, a simple yet previously unavailable phone functionality feature, the smart dial is expected to arrive with Windows 10 Mobile. It will come equipped with “Yellow Books” that will allow users to easily search for public contact numbers.

Battery Saver With User Configurable Options

Users will be able to set a threshold to activate the Battery Saver feature. The UI of the Battery Saver has also been improved.

USB Dual Role And Type-C Connector

The new Windows 10 Mobile will support USB Dual Role and USB Type-C connectors. It will bring support for using various USB devices like keyboard, mice and mass storage.

Activity Tracking

The Windows 10 with activity tracking feature will count the steps of the user automatically. It will be able to recognise whether the user is walking or running or driving.

New Sensors

Windows 10 is expected to bring support for wide range of sensors such as barometer, proximity sensor with support for long range, altimeter, pedometer, biometric sensors for calculating heart rate and gas, and environmental sensors for measuring temperature, humidity, and UV, reports WM Power User.
