Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov will look to continue his impressive run at the Miami Open when he meets France’s Gael Monfils in Round 16 of the tournament at Crandon Park Tennis Center.

Dimitrov staged a remarkable upset over world No. 2 Andy Murray, defeating the second seed 6-7(1) 6-4 6-3 to advance into the next round and face Monfils, who cruised past Argentine Pablo Cuevas 6-3 6-4. The 24-year-old Bulgarian, who had not defeated a top-ranked opponent since beating Stan Wawrinka in Madrid in May last year, made the most of his game and took advantage of Murray’s unforced errors.

“Even though I lost the first set, I kept good composure,” Dimitrov said, reports the ATP’s official website. “I think when I was 3-1 down in the third set, I knew I was going to get another chance because I was returning well, playing well in the key moments. I'm happy with all those things.”

On the other hand, Monfils remained undefeated against Cuevas in their third career meeting. The 29-year-old French did not give up a single break point en route to a swift victory, with the match only lasting for 70 minutes.

Monfils leads Dimitrov by 3-1 in their FedEx ATP Head2Head battle, with victories at the US Open and Monte Carlo Masters in 2014 and 2015, respectively. The only win Dimitrov managed against Monfils was at the ATP Bucharest two years ago, when the world No. 16 retired hurt.

The winner between Dimitrov and Monfils will face either Japan’s Kei Nishikori or Spain’s Roberto Bautista Agut. Nishikori moved into Round of 16 of the Miami Open after dismissing Alexandr Dolgopolov 6-2 6-2, while Bautista Agut stunned ninth seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga 2-6 6-3 7-6(3).
