Valentine’s Day is almost here. The pressure of picking the perfect gift for that special someone can really be a daunting task for some people, though. Here are some great tech gift ideas to ease the Valentine hassle.

Valentine’s gift ideas for her

A chic smartphone

When it comes to mobile phones, Samsung and Apple are the two obvious choices and one can never go wrong with either. A 16 GB iPhone SE currently goes for $679 while a 256 GB iPhone 7 Plus carries a $1,569 price tag. Choose the model and storage that fit the budget and remember to go for a rose gold unit.

If the special someone prefers Android over iOS, then a Samsung Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 Edge will be perfect. The Galaxy S7 is available for $1,149 while the Galaxy S7 Edge is priced at $1,349. Samsung is also throwing in the Gear Fit 2 fitness wristband for free on all Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 Edge purchases until March 2.

A stylish smartwatch

If she already has an iPhone or a Galaxy handset, then go for a smartwatch. A water-resistant Apple Watch Series 2 with built-in GPS starts at $399. For a more sophisticated approach, the $699 Samsung Gear S2 Classic Premium is ideal with its elegant leather band and slim stainless steel body. It can be charged wirelessly, too.

A custom posh phone case

Casetify offers a variety of shiny and glittery iPhone and Galaxy phone cases. If that’s not enough, custom-made cases are also offered. The company even does both ready-made and personalised MacBook sleeves, iPad covers, Apple Watch bands and Samsung Gear bands.

A VR (virtual reality) headset

The HTC Vive is hands down the best and most advanced VR headset currently available. It’s also the most expensive with its $1,399 price tag. The HTC Vive has two primary wireless motion controllers and features two laser towers as positional trackers, but it needs a robust PC for it to run.

For a more budget-friendly virtual experience, the Oculus Rift is the perfect choice. While it won’t be as immersive as the HTC Vive with its traditional controllers, the Oculus Rift is a capable midrange VR option for those with less space and less funds. It currently goes for $779.

A rugged smartwatch

Rugged looks and bold performance, that’s what the Samsung Gear S3 Frontier offers. The $599 smartwatch is packed with advanced features and can last for days without charging. For sports aficionados, the light, flexible and breathable Apple Watch Nike+ is the ultimate Valentine’s gift. At $529, it has features that go the distance including a built-in GPS that tracks pace, distance and route.

A mini gaming PC

A good mini gaming PC should be powerful enough to withstand the wear and tear of demanding games and resource-heavy apps, but it should also be small enough to occupy the least space possible. The Asus ROG GR8 II is the epitome of what a mini gaming PC should be. The Republic of Gamers calls it “the smallest VR-ready system money can buy,” and at $2,199, it’s a pretty good deal.
