Montpellier holding midfielder Benjamin Stambouli is set to join Tottenham Hotspur, according to the Ligue 1 side.

The 24-year-old Frenchman will head to England to iron out personal terms and pass medical tests before he could finally stay at White Hart Lane.

"MHSC and Tottenham Hotspur FC have reached an agreement regarding the transfer of Benjamin Stambouli," read a statement issued by Montpellier.

"He will go to London in the next few hours to undergo a medical and finalise his contract."

Stambouli has gone on to make 112 appearances for La Paillade in France's top-flight since playing for the senior squad in 2010, while experiencing Champions League football during the 2012/13 campaign.

Meanwhile, he tallied 3 goals and 1 assist last season, helping MHSC retain their status as a part of France's top-tier domestic league.
