Inter Milan president Erik Thohir revealed that discussions in acquiring Cardiff City midfielder Gary Medel are still ongoing.

The 26-year-old Chile international could not help the Bluebirds retain their Premier League status during the 2013/14 season, after qualifying for England's top-tier competition for the first time.

He came in as a record signing, from Sevilla - worth around £11million - last summer, and Cardiff's drop back to the Championship will only mean that they will find it hard to sustain his wages.

"We are still discussing a few details and I don't want to announce anything before a deal is done,"Thohir told Gazzetta dello Sport.

"It is clear that we must also consider alternatives."

"I don't want to name names but there are a few players that have said no to us in the past that may have changed their mind."
