Arsenal attacker Lukas Podolski signified his intention to leave in January, citing lack of opportunity as the reason.

The 29-year-old German international was either omitted or benched in almost all of the Gunners' Premier League and Champions League fixtures, which appears to be his worst season as far as playing time is concerned, managing to only make cameo appearances seven times.

"Of course I am not happy with my situation right now," said Podolski, who is currently on international duty.

"I can't be satisfied with that [his lack of action]. We'll see what happens in January."

With Theo Walcott finally recovering and suiting up, Podolski's chances will, all the more, be lessened, if not reduced to nil, given the north London outfit's depth in attacking options.

"It is hard when you can't do what you love," he added.

"I don't know why that is, you'd have to ask my coach in England."

"If you can't play then you can't say he's not playing well or he has a crisis if you're not given the chance."

"If you only come in for 8 or 10 minutes it is hard to get into the game."
