With a recent IBTimes report that Bruno Mars is doing the Halftime Show in Super Bowl XLVIII in 2014, it’s high time that we make Super Bowl predictions … using Bruno’s best songs.

How does that work, you ask? It’s simple. First, we pick a possible Super Bowl XLVIII match-up and then pair that potential game with one of Bruno Mars’ singles since he started his singing career. And, of course, state why that match-up best fit to that song’s lyrics (or part of it).

NFL’s greatest teams for Bruno’s greatest hits, get it?

Super Bowl Prediction #1: New England Patriots vs. San Francisco 49ers
Bruno Mars single: “Grenade” (2010)

“I'd catch a grenade for you (yeah, yeah, yeah)
Throw my hand on a blade for you (yeah, yeah, yeah)
I'd jump in front of a train for you (yeah, yeah, yeah)
You know I'd do anything for you (yeah, yeah, yeah)”

Like every member of the offensive line for the Patriots and 49ers, these are the guys that will literally die for their team and quarterback. Both of these teams are projected to have best pass and/or run protections in the 2013-14 season.

If you think it’s all Tom Brady or Colin Kaepernick, you’re wrong. While both are super-talented, they have a crew that will catch a grenade for them. (yeah, yeah, yeah)

Super Bowl Prediction #2: New England Patriots vs. Green Bay Packers
Bruno Mars single: The Lazy Song (2011)

“Today I don't feel like doing anything
I just wanna lay in my bed
Don't feel like picking up my phone
So leave a message at the tone
'cause today I swear I'm not doing anything.”

For two contenders that will rely on their offense more than their defense. This does not mean however, that they won’t and don’t play defense at all—it’s just that the players under center are both explosive in the air—and that’s an important ingredient for high-scoring games.

No Huddle, Hurry Up fast pace offense led by Brady and Aaron Rodgers. Last season, New England averaged 34.8 PPG and Green Bay, 27.1 PPG. These are the type of games you just want to enjoy—and do nothing else.

Super Bowl Prediction #3: Houston Texans vs. Seattle Seahawks
Bruno Mars single: Gorilla (2013)

“Look what you're doing, look what you've done
But in this jungle you can't run
Cause what I got for you
I promise is a killer, you'll be banging on my chest
Bang bang, gorilla”

This is the opposite of The Lazy Song game. The “Gorilla” game is all about prioritising defense first more than anything else. Probably not much scoring in this game, but pretty sure there are still going to be a lot of hits as both teams will try to tire each other out with sheer physicality.

Texans have J.J Watt and Johnathan Joseph and will have good-to-great defense this year. Seattle held opponents to just 15.3 PPG—the best mark last season in points allowed. Expect sacks, tackles and interceptions if and these two teams meet.
