What happens when two stars merge? According to astronomers, this only happens once every 10,000 years and if it does, the merger can possibly create a bigger star or a black hole. But what happens when two sports superstars collide? Social media explodes!

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey posted on her Twitter and Instagram accounts a short video of eight-division boxing champion Manny Pacquiao wishing her good luck on her upcoming title fight against Cat Zingano. The pair of posts has recently accumulated hundreds and thousands of likes, retweets and favourites just over 24 hours since it was first posted online.

The Rousey post of the Pacquiao video, which also greeted Team GFC, to which the UFC star is a member of, as of Jan. 21, Wednesday, has 113 retweets and 113 favourites on Twitter; and over 28,200 likes on Instagram. Rousey will be facing Cat Zingano to defend here women’s bantamweight title on Feb. 28, 2015. The fight is a co-main event in the UFC 184 card featuring Chris Weidman and Vitor Belfort who battles for the UFC middleweight championship.

Meanwhile, Pacquiao is still waiting the final word from Floyd Mayweather Jr. , who has yet to agree on the much talked about Mayweather vs. Pacquiao super fight on May 2, 2015 or during the Cinco de Mayo weekend. According to the latest reports, Pacquiao has given Mayweather Jr. until the end of January to make the decision. There are confirmed reports however that the bosses at both HBO Sports, which holds the Pacquiao fights’ rights and CBS/Showtime, which handles Mayweather’s bouts, are in serious talks of finalising the fight before the end of the current month.

Other fights under the UFC 184 card are Jake Ellenberger vs. Josh Koscheck (welterweight division); Raquel Pennington vs. Holly Holm (women’s bantamweight division); Tony Ferguson vs. Yancy Medeiros (lightweight division); Mark Muñoz vs. Roan Carneiro (middleweight division); Alan Jouban vs. Richard Walsh (welterweight division); and Derrick Lewis vs. Ruan Potts (heavyweight division) among others.
