As Christmas draws near, everyone is raring for a chance to feel the holiday spirit.

We put on strings upon strings of fairy lights, invest in a robotic display that sings carols for anyone who steps on your lawn and spend thousands of dollars for the perfect shopping gift. Well, that's what adults re won't to do anyway.

Kids, on the other hand, are quite different. It doesn't take much to make them believe in the spirit of the season; just a quick conversation with Santa is all that's needed most of the time. Shoppers in Edmonton got just that when they trooped downtown to take a quick peek with Old Saint Nick.

Hundreds of keyed up faces filled the halls of Edmonton's downtown pedway system on cheery Sunday morning as parents with their children hoped to get a glance of the once a year Jingle on Indoor Santa Claus Parade.

Everyone was in high spirits as the energy in the air culminated in n electric buzz. "I'm so excited for Santa," Simone, an adorable tot, told CTV News.

The parade which started at Commerce Place and ended at the City Centre Mall featured marching bands, elves, and other delightful mascots among other floats in the Christmas festivities.

The single kilometer demonstration was the Downtown Business Association's 24th annual event. Many admired the assortment of wonders that made the spectacle a joy to behold. Edmonton Musical Theatre took the best overall entry while Telus World of Science took the award for best float.

The other victors included Zero Gravity Dance Company as best dance group, Edmonton Boys Pipe Band as best marching band, Chinook Winds Greyhounds for best theme and Wild Rose Critters for best mascot.

It should also be said that Canadian Blood Services Youth Committee and Knights of the Northern Realm were both given honourable mentions.
