Like the Galaxy Note Edge, a limited edition concept phone, was launched alongside the Galaxy Note 4 in September last year, in the same way the South Korean manufacturer has unveiled the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge with dual-edge curved screen smartphone alongside the Galaxy S6 on March 1. Here is a comparison on the curved displays of both the models.

Samsung Galaxy Note Edge

The Samsung Galaxy Note Edge houses a 5.6-inch Super AMOLED display with support for Quad HD resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. It supports a pixel count of 525 ppi. According to Phone Arena, the display of the Note Edge is sharper than the display of Galaxy Note 4.

The Galaxy Note Edge’s curved screen functions like a secondary screen that can stay awake even when the main display is in the sleep mode. The device is fitted with a premium metal frame that runs around the sides of the device. It has a prominent edge screen on the right side that can display notifications such as missed calls and messages. It can contain up to 7 panels for displaying shortcuts, notifications and frequently accessed apps and even small games.

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge

On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge features a smaller 5.1-inch Super AMOLED display that also supports Quad HD resolution like the Note Edge. Moreover, it offers a high pixel count of 577 ppi.

The curved displays on both the sides of the Galaxy S6 Edge are not as prominent as the single-edge screen of Note Edge. Hence, the tapering displays do not function like the one present on Note Edge. The Galaxy Note Edge’s curved screenmeant for delivering exclusive features to the user. However, the sloping displays on the Galaxy S6 Edge are primarily added to accentuate the beauty of the device.

Still, the curved screens of the Galaxy S6 Edge come with handy features. The Galaxy S6 Edge allows users to associate colour codes to contacts. When a caller with colour code calls, the edge screen will light up specific colour. When the handset is in sleeping mode, tapping the screen will light up the edge screen. Also, it can display alerts and information from certain apps, reports Phone Arena.
