Sam Burgess and Phoebe Hooke wed in beautiful Bowral

For Sam Burgess, the year 2015 has ended in a perfect note. On Monday, the National Rugby League golden boy got married to his girlfriend of 18 months, Phoebe Hooke, at the bride’s parent’s rural property Daffodil Downs, Bowral. The wedding took place at Hooke’s father Mitch Hooke’s expansive Southern Highlands horse stud. Hooke's father is a political lobbyist and former Minerals Council boss.

There were about 150 guests at the estate for the wedding. Rabbitohs star Burgess was dressed in a Giorgio Armani suit while Hooke looked beautiful in an Alex Perry gown. The bride was led down the aisle bridesmaid sisters Harriett and Jemima, sister-in-law Yolanda Hodgson and best friend Phoebe White, reports Sydney Morning Herald.

Rabbitohs owner Russell Crowe and his two sons Tennyson and Charles were also in attendance. Club captain Greg Inglis and teammates Luke Keary, Jason Clark and John Sutton and former teammates Issac Luke, now with the Warriors, and Matt King, now a Souths staffer were invited too, reports Fox Sports. Football brothers George, Thomas and Luke and close friend Chris Feather joined Burgess at the altar.

Right after the wedding, Burgess posted a photo of them on his Instagram account. The couple has always been active on social media in expressing their love.

"It's official @mrsphoebeburgess. The most amazing day of my life. X," Burgess captioned a photo of the newlyweds he uploaded on his Instagram account.

Burgess got engaged to Hooke during a European holiday in May and since then they had been inseparable. When asked about their relationship, Hooke had earlier said that they bumped into each other during an Avicii show in Sydney and they chatted the whole time. Burgess had put his number in Hooke’s phone and they had their first dates a few weeks later.

“Before he came to visit me I had my friend rush a pair of track pants to me because I didn't want him to see me in my PJs. We clicked and our banter just worked, which is the most important thing. We like to laugh,” said Hooke.

Burgess’ wife Hooke had her “hen party” last week at Woolloomooloo's China Doll restaurant with her girlfriends, her mother-in-law Julie Burgess and the rugby star’s grandmother Val. The wedding was initially scheduled to take place early New Year.

Nothing is known where the couple will go for their honeymoon.
