Nina Dobrev has officially announced that she will leave her show “The Vampire Diaries,” or “TVD” after its Season 6 finale on May 14, 2015. Dobrev, who portrays the human-turned-vampire Elena Gilbert of Mystic Falls, Virginia, posted the news on her official Instagram account.

“Dearest TVD Family, I've just spent the most beautiful weekend on Lake Lanier in Georgia with my own TVD Family, the cast and crew of The Vampire Diaries. I want to be the first to tell you that it wasn't just a holiday celebration, it was a goodbye party. I always knew I wanted Elena's story to be a six season adventure, and within those six years I got the journey of a lifetime,” Dobrev posted on Instagram, along with a picture of herself and “TVD” Executive producer, mentor and good friend Julie Plec.

Dobrev also mentioned in her Instagram post that she has an exclusive interview about the show’s Season 6 Finale on SELF Magazine’s June 2015 issue. Click here to read Dobrev’s entire statement.

She posted a series of photographs with her beloved “TVD” family including fellow cast members Kat Graham (Bonnie Bennett), Zach Roerig (Matt Donovan), Michael Trevino (Tyler Lockwood), Michael Malarkey (Enzo) and Matthew Davis (Alaric Saltzman). They were all hanging out on a boat to party with Dobrev as she says goodbye to all of them. Click here and here to see the photos from Dobrev’s Instagram account.

Unfortunately, the Salvatore brothers, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Stefan (Paul Wesley), are nowhere to be seen during the lake party. Somerhalder, who is not only Dobrev’s co-star and love interest in “The Vampire Diaries,” but also her ex-boyfriend (from late 2010 to May 2013), is busy spending time with his fiancée “Twilight” star Nikki Reed. They celebrated Easter together by painting some eggs. Click here to see a photo of Reed and Somerhalder from Reed’s Instagram account.

As for Wesley, he is also spending a lot of time with former “TVD” co-star and current “The Originals” star Phoebe Tonkin. His latest Instagram and Twitter posts are about “SNL!”
