In a shocking incident, Nicole Kidman's father, Dr. Antony Kidman, died suddenly during his visit to Singapore. Preliminary examination indicates heart attack as the cause of death. However, the unexpected passing of the actress' father has prompted police investigation.

Working as a clinical psychologist at Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney, Dr. Kidman was in Singapore to sit his other daughter, Antonia, and her kids. As reported by The Strait times, he had just finished his exercise routine in Tanglin social club when he suddenly fell down and was rushed to the local hospital. He was declared dead on arrival.

The 47-year-old actress' publicist confirmed the news through Daily Mail, stating that the family is still in shock and need some time and privacy to deal with the shocking news. Singapore police are reportedly investigating other angles in this tragedy.

Apart from being the father of a talented and highly acclaimed actresses, Dr. Kidman was equally respected and famous for his work in the field of psychology. In 2005, he received the Order of Australia for his precious and valuable contributions to society and science.

As per Daily News, Nicole Kidman was at her U.S. home at the time of the incident. Upon receiving the heartbreaking news, her husband, Keith Urban, cancelled his show for the night and immediately boarded a private jet to be with his wife. They will soon join the rest of the family in Sydney. The last time she was with her whole family was in January this year, when they celebrated their parent's 50th wedding anniversary.

The actress was quite close to her father and was last seen with him at Swiss Celebrate Life Ball held in June. In an earlier conversation with Daily Mail, the actress had revealed that her father was always supportive of her career in acting. "He's a great father, I can call him at three in the morning and he's there for me," she shared.

Dr. Kidman is survived by his wife Janelle, two daughters and ten grandchildren.
