Meghan Markle’s mother is reportedly moving to London to be close to the new Duchess of Sussex. Doria Ragland was the only family member of the bride who attended the Royal wedding in May, as well as perhaps the only one who has not talked to the media about her daughter’s engagement and subsequent marriage to Prince Harry.

Ragland is said to be preparing for her big move to the UK to be near her only child. A friend told Express that she would be moving as early as next month, just in time for her 62nd birthday. It wasn’t a spur of the moment decision as well. Apparently, she had been planning it since May when she quit her job as a social worker for the Didi Hirsch Mental Health Services clinic in Los Angeles. She has also been seen with a security guard.

“She is getting ready to move to London. I think she will be going as soon as possible. I know that she was eager to live closer to her daughter,” the friend told the publication. “She hasn’t been staying at her house for a while now. She has only visited the house very occasionally, and when she is there, she has had a security guard with her. He has been with her since about November.”

While her ex-husband, Thomas Markle, and his children have been criticising Meghan in the media, Ragland has remained quiet. She has been seen proudly supporting her daughter, not hurling insults at the Duchess, unlike Meghan’s half-siblings.

“She is fiercely loyal to Meghan and would never betray her like the rest of them. They are so close,” the friend continued.

When Ragland was received by Queen Elizabeth for an afternoon tea before the royal wedding, the social worker allegedly “fell in love with England.” She reportedly believed she could live happily in the country. But for her, the bigger draw of England was Meghan.

“I think this has been coming for a while. Even before the wedding, she told me how she misses her Megs so much she would do anything to be closer to her, especially now Meghan will be starting a family of her own.”

Ragland has been described as a “real live-wire, full of enthusiasm” by another unnamed friend. The friend told Express, “I can’t think of anyone who doesn’t like her.”

The former yoga instructor is the only family member of Meghan who has met Harry and the Royal family. Thomas Markle was supposed to attend his daughter wedding but had to cancel following a heart operation. He has recently given another interview in which he revealed he had hung up on Harry during one phone call and he had been told he wouldn’t be allowed to deliver a speech at the wedding.
