The Villarreal fan, who suffered a broken arm off a wayward Lionel Messi shot, admitted she is in good spirits despite nearly passing out after absorbing the Argentine football star’s left-footed screamer during Barcelona’s against Villarreal at the Estadio El Madrigal.

Spanish TV channel Cuatro caught up with Racquel, the female fan who took the full impact of Messi’s errant shot during Barca’s La Liga match against Villarreal. Deadspin, which translated the report from the Spanish media outlet, noted that Racquel confirmed she had a broken wrist, but was in “good spirits” about the accident.

The mishap happened when Messi attempted to score early in the first quarter of Barca’s match against the Yellow Submarines. After letting a ripping shot from the edge of the box, Messi’s shot sailed high over the crossbar and into the cheering home crowd behind the goal, hitting Racquel’s right hand. It left the female fan unsteady as medical staff approached her to give treatment.

Barcelona ended the game with a 2-2 draw, extending the Blaugrana’s winning streak to 39 consecutive games in all competitions and maintaining their lead to in La Liga to nine points ahead of Atletico Madrid. Barcelona’s next match will be on Apr. 3 against Cristiano Ronaldo’s Real Madrid at Camp Nou.

Luis Suarez and Gerard Pique are expected to play for Barcelona after the duo escaped a potential suspension in the club’s encounter with Villarreal, according to IBT UK. The Uruguayan international avoided a yellow card on Monday, already having four warnings to his season-record, while the-29-year-old Spaniard avoided a red card after committing two hand ball violations early in the game.

"My first [handball] wasn't one because the ball hit my chest," Pique said, reports Marca. "The second one did hit my hand, but I couldn't do anything about it, so if the first one wasn't a booking then you can argue about the second."

Meanwhile, Real will look to extend their five-match win streak when they go against arch-rivals Barcelona. The Los Blancos are coming off 4-0 victory over Sevilla, putting them just one point behind Atletico in the La Liga rankings.
