iPhone 6 Release Date Brings Glowing Logo with Curved Glass Display—Report
The iPhone 6 release date could bring glowing logo and a curved glass display according to a report from a Japanese Web site Nikkei.
Nikkei's sources shed more light on the matter, and revealed that the previous mock-ups can give a rough idea of the final product but it has a low build quality. The main thing the report takes issue with is the antennae stripes seen on the back of the iPhone 6. Nikkei says that these antennae stripes will not actually make it to the finished product rather the iPhone 6 release date will bring a glass antennae design, which is similar to the iPhone 5 and the iPhone 5s. Basically, the antennae stripes in the case markings indicate where the metal needs to be cut out to insert the glass.
According to Nikkei, those are not the only questionable details from the mock-up. For one, it claims that the Apple logo on the back of the iPhone 6 will be similar to the logo on the back of MacBooks. Previous report from Cult of Mac revealed that the iPhone 6 could have a glowing Apple logo and Nikkei's report appears to confirm it.
Moreover, Nikkei claims that the Cupertino tech giant will incorporate a curved glass display to the iPhone 6, similar to the LG Flex. In theory, curved glass displays bring better image quality than flat displays.
Meanwhile, other reports suggest that the iPhone 6 will have an OIS feature for the bigger variant. Previously, the possibility of IOS (Optical Image Stabilisation) has been rumoured to come with the camera of the iPhone 6. At that time, it was said that fans are anticipating having a larger camera sensor for the next generation iPhone but it was more likely for the Cupertino tech giant to stick to the 8 MP sensor camera unit but with improvements like the OIS.
According to the research note of Apple Insider that includes predictions from the famous KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the supply constraints suggest that the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 will not have the OIS but the required OIS components might be supplied in enough numbers to be included in the 5.5-inch model of the iPhone 6.
It is believed that the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 will utilise a "middle-mount open-loop voice call motor" rather than an OIS voice coil motor, which is an improved version of the VCM currently used in the iPhone 5S.
Kuo thinks that if the bigger model of the iPhone 6 will sport the OIS feature, it will help to distinguish it from other iPhones and fit the image of a higher-end device. Also, Kuo believes that both the iPhone 6 models will have 8 MP sensor rear cameras.
