"Divergent" and "The Fault in Our Stars" (TFIOS) co-stars Ansel Elgort and Shailene Woodley observably have the closest bond among young Hollywood stars these days. But apparently, despite the obvious chemistry the co-stars have, there was once a time when Elgort had been admittedly terrified of Woodley.

The 20-year-old actor admitted in a recent interview that he had to be pushed before he seriously read "The Fault in Our Stars." Terrified that his co-star Woodley would be mad, Elgort reportedly revealed that he had read John Green's novel, where his movie with Woodley was based on, before he auditioned for the movie.

"I was on set with [Shailene Woodley] on 'Divergent' and she said, 'Have you read [TFIOS] yet?' I couldn't lie to her, I said, 'No, I haven't.' She said, 'If you show up for the screen test and you haven't read it, I'll be so mad!" Ansel Elgort revealed in an interview with Bliss magazine for its July 2014 issue.

Before Elgort and Woodley's team-up in "The Fault in Our Stars," Woodley and Elgort have been siblings in the movie adaptation of Veronica Roth's novel, "Divergent." Their roles in "Divergent" have let both actors develop a relationship that has blossomed once they stepped on screen for the movie adaptation of John Green's novel, "TFIOS."

The 20-year-old actor explained to Bliss magazine that when he started reading "The Fault in Our Stars," there had been no way he could put the book down because it "was so great."

"I read it over two days, which I've never done - I don't even read books!" Elgort told the publication. "That's my only downside ... well, one of my downsides."

Woodley and Elgort have been rumoured as couple after their successful team-up in "The Fault in Our Stars" where they both played as cancer-stricken teenagers named Hazel Grace and Gus Waters, respectively.

Dating rumours, however, have been debunked, following the video that recently resurfaced of Elgort and his real-life girlfriend Violetta Komyshan dancing for Amanda Uprichard Spring 2013 Collection. Elgort and Komyshan were also spotted showing PDA while attending a fashion show in Paris.

Despite not being real-life partners, Ansel Elgort and Shailene Woodley are said to be good friends. Both actors are set to reprise their roles in the "Divergent" sequel "Insurgent," which hits theatres on March 20, 2015, with Theo James, Kate Winslet, Miles Teller, Jai Courtney and Zoe Kravitz.
