The Android 6.0 Marshmallow, the latest Android OS build, was rolled out for Nexus 6 and Nexus 5 smartphones and Nexus 7 (2013) and Nexus 9 tablets at the beginning of October. It’s yet to be made available for smartphones from other brands.

Samsung is currently working on Android 6.0 for its recent flagships like the Galaxy Note 5, the Galaxy S6 Edge+, the Galaxy S6 Edge, the Galaxy S6, the Galaxy Note 4, the Galaxy Note Edge and the Galaxy S5.

Developers at Samsung are working on builds of Android 6.0 Marshmallow for its different flagships as Google has already rolled out the final code of the OS, according to Android Geeks. The 2015 flagships such as the Note 5, the S6 Edge+, the S6 Edge, and the S6 are likely to be the first ones to receive Android 6.0 updates.

The newly released Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS is not an overhaul improvement over its predecessor, Android Lollipop OS. Since Android 6.0 isn’t greatly different from Lollipop, the South Korean tech giant is likely release the latest Android build within this year.

Samsung is ready with the beta edition of Android 6.0, according to PC Advisor. The beta will be made available to general users after its testing is complete.

Rumours suggest the Galaxy Note 4 released last year is also going to receive Android 6.0 Marshmallow before the end of 2015. As of this writing, there’s no speculation on Android 6.0 for Galaxy Note Edge. Samsung Galaxy S5 users are now receiving the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update, Venture Capital Post reported.

The Android 6.0 Marshmallow update will bring a slew of enhancements to native apps and overall performance. Some of the improvements that will come along have to do with app-permissions, battery performance through new Doze mode and improved RAM management. It also carries native support for a fingerprint scanner.
