Australian country singer, Keith Urban will no longer be lonely at the judges’ table on American Idol with top producer, Dr Luke, reportedly joining him in the upcoming season.

Variety is reporting that Dr Luke has finalised the deal with the show’s producers and is said to be the second American Idol judge confirmed for Season 13 of Fox’s hit show. Earlier reports claimed that Dr Luke was among the judges the producers sat down with to discuss the job.

Dr Luke, along with Piddy Diddy and Kanye West, had been asked for a meeting in recent weeks.

Kanye turned it down, fearing his “street credibility” as noted by a source. Piddy Diddy was reportedly asked to sit next to his old fling, Jennifer Lopez, but he too, turned down the offer.

Dr Luke comes from the long list of Idol judges speculated, some even suggested to mentor Idol hopefuls for Season 13. Idol alumni Adam Lambert, Jennifer Hudson and Kelly Clarkson are among the favourite Idol winners who fans and critics believe can help boost ‘Idol’ ratings.

Rapper will i.am was also reported as being considered for the judges’ seat, but he dropped out of the race, according to reports.

Jennifer Lopez has been “confirmed” returning on Idol and the announcement was made by no other than her boyfriend, Casper Smart.

Dr Luke producer may not be “a household name” as of yet, said Variety but he has a number of hit songs to his name.

These include Idol alum Kelly Clarkson’s Since U Been Gone and Katy Perry’s California Gurls, and all these hit songs have one thing in common: they all have topped the Billboard charts. Gives you an idea that Dr Luke knows what he’s doing.
