Vin Diesel’s ‘Furious 8’ Co-Star Tyrese Gibson Promotes ‘Black Rose’ On Subway

Months after appearing in the box-office hit “Furious 7,” Tyrese Gibson released his sixth and final album, titled “Black Rose.” As part of his marketing campaign, he went to the New York City subway to promote the album.
Going underground in Brooklyn, Gibson even rode buses with his bodyguards following closely behind to encourage surprised members of the public to buy his “Black Rose” album. He called the marketing campaign the "Black Rose project."
“Excuse me, everybody, my name is Tyrese,” Gibson told commuters, according to Pulse. He added, “I’m a singer. I left all of the major record labels do that I can do my thing as an independent artist and I’m on the train.”
Gibson emphasised to the commuters that he is a street performer and an independent artist. Through his own Voltron Recordz label, the Grammy-nominated R&B singer released “Black Rose” on July 10.
On July 16, Thursday, Gibson appeared on “CBS This Morning” to promote “Black Rose” and his song “Shame.” In his interview in the show, he described “Black Rose” as the most vulnerable album he has ever done in his life as well as the most honest and transparent one.
During his appearance on the show, Gibson explained that he has left each major label so that he can take more control of his career. He added he becomes clearer and more specific about his likes and dislikes as he gets older.
At this point for Gibson, no one can get him to sing and work with producers he does not want to collaborate with. He also said no one can force him to wear clothes and shoot the types of videos that have nothing to do with the direction he sees.
In addition, Gibson pointed out that “Black Rose” is not about ego. He said it is simply a confirmation that there are always blessings and opportunities waiting on the other side when a person takes control of his or her life and career.
It was the Coca-Cola commercial Gibson sang in 1994 that allowed him to launch his career. Now, he is set to reprise his role as Roman in “Furious 8,” which will also star Vin Diesel, Jason Statham and Dwayne Johnson.
