Vampire Diaries: Elena & Damon, "TV’s Best Couple Ever," Hailed by E!
The votes have spoken, Vampire Diaries' Elena and Damon are TV's best couple beating Ross and Rachel in Friends, Buffy and Angel in Buffy, and Carrie and Big in Sex in the City. The vampire couple went head to head with Glee's couple, Rachel and Finn, but in the end Damon and Elena are no doubt the hottest among them.
The Vampire Diaries' Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Elena (Nina Dobrev) have officially been crowned as TV's Best Couple of All Time thanks to their avid fans to tirelessly send thousands of votes to E!Online. The award came in just as the show finishes their 100th episode in their Atlanta set, a perfect way to celebrate for show's success since they started 5 years ago.
"I mean it's crazy!" Nina said during an interview with E!Online. "The Delena fans are so passionate and so enthusiastic and such rabid lovers of Damon and Elena's chemistry and their relationship that obviously we're incredibly flattered and excited about it. It is really awesome!"
"Those are some pretty phenomenal couples to be in any kind of competition with," Ian added. "And to know that whatever Damon and Elena have done that resonates with fans, we're so grateful to have that title!"
During an interview, Ian jokingly said that Damon and Stefan are old news and Klaus and Elijah of "The Originals" will be voted next as best couple ever in television. Even Nina was biased about their win since she loves Ricky and Lucy, and grew up watching "I Love Lucy" so she feels like they deserve the award more than they do.
So what's in store for this couple in the next episodes of season 5? "A wicked combination of blissful happiness and terrible romantic hurdles," says Julie Plec, the show's executive producer.
Plec is absolutely thrilled about the award and said that she is "happily surprised" about it since there is a lot of competition. As the season 5 progresses, there will be a lot of tests for this couple and its going to be a rollercoaster ride as Damon and Elena love affair continues.
