The finale episode of "Teen Wolf" Season 4 had the Beacon Hills gang head back to Mexico where it all started. This time, the gang must save Scott (Tyler Posey) from the evil plan that Peter (Ian Bohen) and Kate (Jill Wagner) put together in order to regain power.

Spoiler Alert: This feature contains major spoilers on "Teen Wolf" Season 4, episode 12 titled "Smoke & Mirrors."

The episode begins with Kira (Arden Cho) waking up in a cell with the door unlocked so she tried to escape but Berserker Scott attacked her. Kate Argent shows up to explain what she did to Scott after finding out that she has the ability to control and create the Berserkers.

Stiles (Dylan O'Brien) told his father, Sheriff Stilinski (Linden Ashby) that he wants to go to Mexico to save his best friend. However, Sheriff Stilinski wants to do it in a lawful way so Stiles left despite his father's instructions.

Derek (Tyler Hoechlin) and Braeden (Meagan Tandy) prepare the weapons they will bring to Mexico while the two discuss about Derek's condition. Derek feels that he will not make it this time with their "Save Scott" mission.

Peter enters the room to explain that everyone should be heading to Mexico because the gang will need all the force they can get in killing the Berserkers. Stiles, Malia (Shelley Hennig), Liam (Dylan Sprayberry), Derek, Braeden and Peter meet up at a warehouse before going on their trip to Mexico.

Lydia (Holland Roden) is supposed to join the gang in saving Scott in Mexico but a loose Berserker shows up at school and attacks the banshee. The group decided to head to Mexico without Lydia but Stiles enlisted Mason's (Khylin Rambo) help in finding out what happened to Lydia.

In the van, Derek and Stiles help Liam control his transformation during the full moon with the Hale family's ancient talisman. However, it was Satomi's (Lily Mariye) mantra that made the Beta werewolf regain control of his shift.

Back in La Iglesia, Kira's mom helped the young fox heal the stab wound that Berserker Scott gave her by making her realize that pain will cure her. Meanwhile at school, Mason wakes up from the Berserker attack to find Lydia also locked up in the room with him.

Lydia realizes that Kate does not want her to leave school so she could not warn the gang that they are going to kill Scott without knowing that the True Alpha werewolf is one of the Berserkers. The group finally arrives at La Iglesia but one Berserker attacks and injures Derek badly.

Derek tells the group to go ahead and save Scott but Braeden decided to stay with him. Stiles receives a phone call from his furious dad but he was able to calm him down and ask for his help in saving Lydia and Mason at school.

Deputy Parrish (Ryan Kelley), Chris Argent (JR Bourne) and the Calaveras arrive at the La Iglesia in time to start the fight against Kate and the Berserkers. In the middle of the fight, Derek slowly closes his eyes and Braeden starts to cry after seeing Derek lose consciousness.

Fortunately, Derek lives. It turns out Derek was not turning human when he started to lose his werewolf powers but he has been evolving into a black wolf.

Inside La Iglesia, Malia and Liam are fighting off a Berserker not knowing that it is none other than their friend, Scott. Kira arrives in time to stop Malia from stabbing Scott and informing them of what happened to the True Alpha werewolf.

Liam succeeds in making Scott break free from his Berserker guise by telling him that he is not a monster but a werewolf. Afterwards, Scott realizes that Peter is behind the evil plan so he could restore power to himself.

Peter and Scott get into an intense fight and the younger werewolf won after knocking out Peter with his strength that he drew from his pack. The ending scenes of the "Teen Wolf" Season 4 finale episode served as a preview of what the fans can expect in the next season.

Chris Argent left with the Calaveras to catch Kate who escaped from the mess that she made with Peter. Lydia gives Deputy Parrish a bestiary to help him figure out what kind of a supernatural creature he is. Then, Peter, who was drugged with the yellow wolfsbane, is locked up in Eichen House in a cell where his roommate is Dr. Valack (Steven Brand), a man with a third eye in the supernatural section of the mental health facility.
