Prior to "Star Wars Battlefront" release, DICE developers stated that they expected the first trailer for the game to “break the Internet.” While the trailer, revealed this weekend at the “Star Wars Celebration 2015,” didn’t quite do that, it still caused quite a stir. DICE also revealed that gamers everywhere will be able to get their hands on “Battlefront” on November 17.

The trailer, hosted on the official EA Star Wars YouTube channel, shows off a full two minutes of gorgeous in-engine gameplay captured from the PlayStation 4 version of the game. The stunning footage shows a battle between the Rebel Alliance and Empire Stormtroopers raging deep in the forest of Endor. It features speeders, AT-STs, Y-Wings, X-Wings and the appearance of an AT-AT -- all the hallmarks of classic “Star Wars.”

The trailer has certainly proved popular as it’s been watched by almost 10 million viewers since its release on the 17th. Despite the overwhelming positive reaction, some gamers were upset that actual gameplay footage wasn’t shown, and they questioned whether or not the game would actually look that good when played. Taking to Reddit, one of the game’s producers, Jesper Nielsen, explained that while the footage is certainly cinematically shot, it’s representative of what the game looks like.

“Obviously there may be subtle differences from time to time, but this trailer is very representative of what the game does indeed look like. This trailer intended to show a lot of different parts of the game – e.g. all the planets, Darth, Boba Fett, etc. – and really set the right 'Star Wars' tone,” he said.

The producer went on to add that it would be a while before actual gameplay footage would be released but assured that what is seen in the trailer is what the game looks like on PlayStation 4. He also stated that the game would run at 60fps across all platforms. Elsewhere, Gamespot confirmed that “Battlefront” will not include a single-player campaign mode but will have two-player co-op missions that can be played offline or online.

While there will be no space battles, players will be able to engage in battle across four different planets: Endor, Hoth, Tatooine, and a new planet named Sullust, each with multiple maps. Confirmed playable vehicles include Speeder Bikes, Snow Speeders, AT-STs, AT-ATs, TIE Fighters, X-Wings and the Millennium Falcon. Players will also be able to control playable Hero characters, with Darth Vader and Boba Fett confirmed so far. Soldier characters will be fully customisable, as the game features no classes, and Polygon has confirmed the presence of playable female Stromtroopers.

Gamers will be able to switch freely between first and third person views, with maps featuring some level of destructibility. As noted by DualShockers, pre-orders for the games have gone up already. Standard and deluxe editions are live on various retailer sites, including the Xbox Store, GameStop, Amazon, Origin and the PlayStation store, with a host of extras in tow. “Star Wars Battlefront” will be released on PS4, Xbox One and PC on November 17.
