Sony Computer Entertainment's President and Group CEO Andrew House is reflected in the display screen of a PlayStation Vita handheld game console as he speaks during an interview with Reuters in Makuhari, east of Tokyo September 18, 2014. Sony Corp's game division head said he hopes the unit can raise its profit outlook for a second time this financial year as sales of the latest PlayStation console and subscription services for games and other content far exceed expectations. The PS4 Firmware Update 2.6, codenamed Yukimura, has made quite an impression on fans. And even though Sony has not yet hinted on any release dates for the update, there is already one user who had supposedly gotten his hands on the beta version.

GamingBolt has spotted the report, stating that Reddit user TehPoisonOne has managed to sample the update. Apart from this, the user has also obtained an eight-minute video showing off some of the mentioned features. The video can be accessed in the Reddit link here, and it appears that it highlights the new accessibility options.

Currently, the PS4 2.5 Firmware update is on beta and is only officially accessible via the MVP program. TehPoisonOne did state that users in America can try it out, but it is far from how Microsoft allows users in on its early access program for Xbox One updates. One has to apply to the PlayStation MVP program to take part of the beta experience.

Some of the changes cited by TehPoisonOne includes the ability to pin button assignment via the PlayStation button. However, even this is limited given that the system automatically selects pin inverting colours and the button assignment. Also, team voice chat can now be played two ways: on television and via the headphones. In the Reddit conversation, TehPoisonOne also managed to squeeze in a screenshot of the Profiles page, as seen in the link here.

Sony had previously confirmed some of the features coming with the PS4 Firmware 2.5 update. Some of these requested features include Facebook Friend Search to build players’ friends’ base from real-life contacts, Remote Play and Share Play now support customisation of frame rates for games that run at 60 fps, more accessibility options including text to speech, bolder fonts, reassignment of buttons for the DualShock 4 controller and higher contrast UI and also some improvements on trophy management and sharing.

Apart from this, it appears that the PS4 will also be getting the in-game video chat feature sometime this year, if a new clue is to be believed. IGN reports that the PlayStation Network exclusive “Powers” shows a scene wherein a character has a video chat box featured in the PS4 while playing “inFamous: Second Son.”

This isn’t the only basis for the upcoming feature, as Sony did confirm that the video chat feature will be coming to the PS4. Back in January, DualShockers reported that ooVoo is already slated to become part of the PS4 come the second quarter of the year.

Apart from a Skype-like experience that is currently offered on the Xbox One, ooVoo President Brian Liebler announced that it will be pushing a streaming feature. This will not only allow two friends to view content same-tie, they can also do so while doing a video chat.
