It comes as no surprise that "Titanfall," the most hyped game of 2014, is getting a sequel. After publisher Electronics Arts had already hinted at it earlier in 2015, developer Respawn Entertainment has confirmed "Titanfall 2." Vince Zampella, the co-founder of the videogame studio, revealed the sequel's existence at the recently concluded BAFTA Game Awards in the UK.

According to an earlier International Business Times Australia report, EA had already hinted at the possibility that it won't sign an exclusivity deal with Microsoft for the next game and that it would be ported to PS4 as well. Zampella cited the earlier exclusivity deal as a business decision and a necessary evil to fund the original game. He has now confirmed that "Titanfall 2" would be released on the rival PlayStation 4 console as well, in addition to the PC version.

"I guess EA announced a sequel, so I could play coy and pretend I don’t know anything about it, or… yeah. So we’re working on a sequel," said Zampella in an interview with IGN at the BAFTA awards. "No official name yet, but we’re working on that… that’s the main focus but we’re starting up a second team and doing some smaller stuff too."

Apart from the acknowledgement that Respawn is working on the next "Titanfall" game, Zampella said the sequel's title still hasn't been finalised, according to VG247. The developer also didn't reveal much about the gameplay or whether the studio intended to address the main criticism of the game – the lack of a solid story-driven single player mode.

In an interview with IGN, Zampella also revealed that the studio is in the process of setting up a second development team to handle "some smaller stuff too." However, it is still unclear what these could be.

The developer was rather non-committal when quizzed about whether the upcoming sequel would incorporate a more fleshed out single-player campaign. Acknowledging that the game's conservative approach to single player alienated some portion of gamers, he admitted the team could have done a better job of striking a balance between mixing up the single player campaign with the multiplayer aspect. He signed off on the issue saying the Respawn team still hasn't figured out what approach they're going to take for the single player campaign in the sequel.

Zampella seemed impressed by "Evolve." The recently released multiplayer focused AAA title by 2K Games surprised everyone by offering DLC Map packs at no extra cost. Keeping maps free as opposed to locking them away behind paid DLCs prevents the multiplayer experience from being fragmented. The "Titanfall" developer didn't give any assurances the sequel could take a page from "Evolve's" free map distribution strategy. However, he did say Respawn would do something different.
