This weekend's featured Pac-12 football game is between the #2 Oregon Ducks and the #12 UCLA Bruins, to be played at the Autzen Stadium in Eugene, Oregon.

The Bruins are in a very unique position. They have not won a bowl game since 2009. However, coming into the 2013 season, they were ranked #21 in the Associated Press poll. After defeating the #23 Nebraska Cornhuskers in Lincoln, their stock started rising, beating New Mexico State, Utah, and in-state rival California in quick succession. After the home win against the Cal Golden Bears, they were ranked #9. However, they brought back to earth by #13 Stanford on the road. For the Bruins, it was not just their first loss of the season; it was also the first time they scored less than 34 points in one game. The Bruins are masters of the passing game, and Stanford's stingy defense took away that advantage. So far this season, quarterback Brett Hundley has done a masterful job, setting the table for his receivers, and the Bruins need every sort of help they can get from the offensive line.

The Oregon Ducks are not ranked #2 in the nation for nothing. They play a well-balanced game, racking up the points while minimising their opponents' offense. Prior to their Oct 12 game against #12 Washington, the Ducks had held opponents to a middling 11.8 points a game while scoring 59.2 of their own. Against Washington, they scored "only" 45 points while allowing the Huskies to score 24; against the Washington State Cougars; they scored 62 despite giving up 38. While naysayers point out that the Ducks' last two games have shown chinks in their defensive plays, they cannot deny that Oregon has one of the best offensive lines in the country. Redshirt sophomor quarterback Marcus Mariota has completed 19 touchdown passes with no interceptions while scoring 9 touchdowns of his own. His favorite target, De'Anthony Thomas, is a lightning-quick running back who scored three touchdowns against Virginia, a personal best. Thomas is also a Duck sprinter who is the anchor of the world-renowned Oregon 4x100 relay team with a personal best time of 10.41 meters.

UCLA is rumoured to be building a new football facility next to their practice field, something that can be boosted with a gigantic win over the #2 Ducks, and a win will help boost their chances at a national championship berth. Oregon, on the other hand, would like to extend their run and earn another shot at the national championship which they blew in 2010.
