My Kitchen Rules
"My Kitchen Rules" judges Pete Evans and Manu Feildel on their way to Alex and Gareth's Instant Restaurant Facebook/My Kitchen Rules

WA mother-son duo Anna and Jordan’s homemade mama’s pie made them safe for another week in “My Kitchen Rules” 2016 homemade challenge. However, QLD’s Alex and Gareth once again slipped into the “sudden death” round. Next time, they will be facing SA’s Rosie and Paige.

Although VIC’s Tasia and Gracia won the people’s choice award, Anna and Jordan’s pie was highly appreciated more so because things didn’t start well for the mother-son duo. Their homemade pies were far from ready when the moviegoers started arriving. The challenge for the nine remaining teams was to prepare family dinner box for 300 men, women and children. It was a movie night at a inner city pop-up cinema.

Their pies were not ready even 10 minutes after the service started. However, once they were able to serve their pies, everybody loved it.

Alex and Gareth’s cola ribs were not up to the mark. The ribs were falling off the bone but that’s where it stopped with the ribs. Alex and Gareth had narrowly missed elimination in the previous round. Judges Pete Evans and Colin Fassnidge found their meal of cola ribs too sweet. They will be facing Rosie and Paige, whose pork burgers with chicken bites and chips also failed to impress. The burgers were dry and the chips soggy.

It was the duty of the judges to choose the two weakest teams to go to sudden death. Frankly, Anna and Jordan thought they would be one of the two weakest teams. However, they were utterly surprised by the judges’ reactions.

Fassnidge promptly said that the two “knocked it out of the park” and Evans was of the opinion that despite the delay, the two did not cut any corners or did not take any short cuts. He believed they served a quality dish that they “cooked with love.”

“My Kitchen Rules” 2016 continues Tuesday at 7.30pm on Seven.
