It is makeover time for singer Lorde. The “Royals” singer bid adieu to her shiny curls to make way for a sleeker and shorter haircut. Lorde has opted for this makeover just days before her 19th birthday on Nov. 7.

She flaunted her straight mane at the 12th annual Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA)/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards in New York City on Monday. It was tough for the onlookers to recognise the pop artist without her voluminous and lustrous locks. She even chopped off a major length of her hair and showed off a half-up-half-down hairstyle.

The Vogue and CFDA event was attended by several other A-listers of the industry, including Amanda Seyfried, Karlie Kloss, and Demi Moore. Lorde rocked her new look in a lacy see-through dress and teamed it up with pants by Givenchy and pointed-toe heels.

Lorde, whose real name is Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O'Connor, has donned other styles at several events in the past. She was seen in a slicked-back ponytail at the 2015 Golden Globes, according to a report from People. She also opted for smooth roots with curled ends at post-VMAs party held by Republic Records in August.

The 18-year old singer became a well-known face in 2013 with the success of her single “Royals” from the album "Pure Heroine." This track became a crossover hit and topped the US Billboard Hot 100 for nine consecutive weeks. Lorde dropped her new song “Magnets” with Disclosure from album “Caracal” on BBC DJ Zane Lowe's Beats 1 radio show in September.
