After the Consumer Electronics Show, all eyes will be focused on the much awaited Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2016 that is scheduled to take place in Barcelona, Spain from Feb. 22 to Feb. 25.

According to the invitation, the South Korean consumer electronics giant has scheduled its keynote event on Feb. 21 at 2 p.m., Barcelona time. As confirmed to CNET, LG will launch its next flagship handset at the event in Spain. It is worth mentioning that the tech show mainly focuses on mobile phones.

LG is expected to announce the next iteration of last year’s flagship smartphone LG G4, the LG G5. The event invitation features a children's jack-in-the-box toy and reads “Play begins.” It does not actually reveal much. However, the invite indicates that the device could arrive with remarkable gameplay and graphics or with a Hi-Fi music output.

The company has never launched a G series smartphones at the MWC but the launch of top-end smartphones at the biggest mobile show is not uncommon either. LG took the platform of MWC 2015 to launch G Flex 2 as well as G Pro 2 in 2014. However, LG unveiled its latest flagship G4 in April last year.

Being the largest mobile industry show, MWC 2016 will see the light of quite a few flagships. Apart from LG, Samsung and HTC are also expected to unveil their flagship devices at the show.

With the LG G5, the company is speculated to bring in a fresh change in the look and feel of the device. There are rumours that the company will deviate from its plastic and metal combination to feature a metal unibody design. The flagship is also anticipated to sport a 5.3-inch QHD display and run by a Snapdragon 820 chipset, as reported by Techno Buffalo.
