By the looks of things, LG will be following the footsteps of Samsung in switching to a metal chassis, instead of the overused plastic material. The upcoming “LG G4 Note” will apparently be featuring a metal body to offer the much-loved premium look to the device. However, the flagship “LG G4” will still be sticking to the ubiquitous polycarbonate chassis, seen in the predecessor G3.

Speaking of Samsung, the South Korean tech giant finally took the plunge and embraced the metallic look in 2014. Following the good response from the fans and critics alike, the company apparently created the stunning Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge with excellent build quality to take the premium-look to a whole new level. Needless to say, the response has reportedly been brilliant for the both the handsets so far. Taking a cue, LG might have just ditched the plastic look for the more sophisticated metallic look for the LG G4 Note, says GForGames.

Also it is worth noting that, the LG G4 Note will apparently be the first LG handset to flaunt the metallic look. But then, there are reportedly many more LG devices to come, touting the sturdier metal case. Meanwhile, the LG G4 Note release date is tipped for the end of 2015.

Based on the reports from Korean ZDNet, LG is gearing up to manufacture “more extensive use of metal” in building the future smartphones. This change will apparently enable the device maker to take on Apple, Samsung, Xiaomi, Meizu and other OEMs that have already made an impact in the design space. The said device makers have either used a metal frame encircling the handset or used a metal chassis/cover enwrapping the device.

In any case, GForGames says, the upcoming flagship device will not be featuring the metal chassis as the LG G4 release date is nearing close. Technically, for an OEM to start manufacturing metal cases in massive quantities, new equipments are a minimum requirement. Even though, LG is mulling to switch over to newer CNCs i.e. Computer Precision Control for the metal cases production, the efforts will reportedly be quite pricey for the manufacturer and time consuming too. To put it in perspective, due to lack of time and the demand for new equipments to manufacture the metal chassis, the LG G4 will reportedly not come with the metallic look. As the LG G4 Note release date is only towards the end of the year, it makes sense for LG to experiment the metallic look on this phablet.

On the other hand, the credible tipster @OnLeaks has recently tweeted saying, “Looks like the #LG G4 has a... 5.6' screen.” Therefore, the rumoured display size of 5.3-inch to 5.7-inch has been put to rest and the G4 will apparently feature a 5.6-inch display. In any case, readers should note that, the tech giant has not confirmed the LG G4 release date or features thus far.
