In replacing the Nexus 6, Google is reportedly tapping LG anew for the 2015 Nexus smartphone version and with the device likely to be the repurposed LG G4 vanilla Android fans are getting another phablet. Renders and leaked specs of the upcoming LG flagship suggest this.

Reports surfaced last week that from Huawei, Google has decided to trust LG anew with its signature phone. If the rumours prove true, the likelihood is LG will pattern the next Nexus phone from its best smartphone – like what the South Korean firm did with the Nexus 4 and 5.

Thus, Android fans are looking to the repurposed LG G4 as the next Nexus, its actual name still unknown, device. And the details connected so far with the LG G3 sequel point to another phablet rendition.

5.6-inch display panel

From last year’s Motorola model at 5.9-inch, Google might be considering a slight screen-size downgrade but the 2015 Nexus smartphone will not be actually dwarf over by the competition. Bearing the LG brand, the native Android phone will likely duplicate the 5.6-inch screen that sources say the G4 will sport out of the box.

Twitter account OnLeaks is claiming in a post dated March 16 that from the G3’s 5.5-inch viewing window the G4 will stretch a little further, reaching a 5.6-inch real estate of panel. This could translate to the Nexus 6 successor still having an amazing giant screen though obviously some inches step back from the one put together by Motorola.

That same screen will amaze in 3K resolution render, OnLeaks added, serving too as the giant viewfinder for the device’s overwhelming 20.7-megapixel camera sensor on rear. As a full-pledged phablet device, the G4 will slug it out with the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 with its own stylus. But it remains to be seen if Google will extend the same feature to the 2015 Nexus.

Curved display

And with the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge gaining considerable attention, it hardly surprising that flexible display will also become part of the G4/Nexus hardware menu. This possibility is supported in a fresh concept picked up first by Concept Phones.

Created by Rishi Ramesh, the G4 is envisioned with a bendable panel but unlike that of the S6 Edge LG’s rendition is more of the curved kind like that of a banana and not the gorgeous edgy design that Samsung has introduced. As can be expected, Ramesh laced his G4 will killer features that synch with 2015 mobile components standard.

Release date of the LG G4 is predicted anytime in the second quarter of 2015. That would be a few months ahead of its 2015 Nexus doppelganger as Google normally rolls out its hero phone at the start of the holiday quarter.
