To be directed by Guy Ritchie (“Sherlock Holmes”), “Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur” is an upcoming remake of the classic Arthurian lore featuring “Sons of Anarchy” star Charlie Hunnam as Arthur Pendragon. Written by Joby Harold, the six-film franchise is scheduled to be released on July 22, 2016 to be distributed by Warner Bros.

“Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur” follows the story of a streetwise young Arthur who is unaware of the life he was born and the kingdom that was stolen from him. Not knowing his royal lineage, he then grasps hold the sword Excalibur that will help him defeat the man who killed his father and take what is stolen from him.

“Instantly challenged by the power of Excalibur, Arthur is forced to make some hard choices,” according to the film’s synopsis. “Throwing in with the Resistance and a mysterious young woman named Guinevere, he must learn to master the sword, face down his demons and unite the people to defeat the tyrant Vortigern, who stole his crown and murdered his parents and become King.”

Fresh from the success of his biker drama show, Charlie Hunnam leads the cast of talented actors including Eric Bana (“Deliver Us FromEvil”) as Uther Pendragon, King Arthur’s father. “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Strangers Tide” star Astrid Berges-Frisbey plays the Arthurian love interest, Guinevere, and British star Jude Law plays the villainous Vortigern.

Swedish actor Mikael Persbrandt recently signed on for the film as Kjartan, “a Viking envoy in cahoots with the film’s bad guy Vortigern.” Known for his role as shapeshifting Beorn in “The Hobbit,” Persbrandt also appeared in the 2014 Danish Western “The Salvation” with Mads Mikkelsen.

The newest addition to the cast is British actress Annabelle Wallis who is set to play Maid Maggie, the lady who will see Charlie Hunnam’s King Arthur as the man who pulled Excalibur from the stone. The “Annabelle” actress also stars in Louis Letterier’s “Grimsby” with comedian Sacha Baron Cohen and Mark Strong.

The actress also appeared in BBC’s drama “Peaky Blinders.” She is repped in the U.S. by ICM and Untitled Entertainment. Repped by United Agents in the U.K.
