Who would have thought that an unfortunate safety officer who loves to have a doughnut, Homer Simpson, will actually outshine a majority of brainy individuals by accurately predicting the mass of the Higgs boson, more than a decade before the physicists?

Dr. Simon Singh, author of the book that was trying to scrutinize the math hidden behind different episodes of the famous cartoon series, The Simpsons, has discovered that the solutions of the mass of the 'God Particle' was found to be written by Homer Simpson against a blackboard in an episode titled The Wizard of Evergreen Terrace. In the stated episode, Homer, inspired from Thomas Edison, makes an attempt to become an inventor.

Higgs boson, or the "God Particle" is believed to be a roadblock for physicists who are trying to grasp the working of the universe. The scientists and physicists believe that just after the Big Bang event, an invisible energy field called the Higgs field was formed within a fraction of a second.

The concept of Higgs boson was first revealed by Professor Peter Higgs at the University of Edinburgh. The particle is known to provide a fundamental explanation behind why other particles in the whole universe have mass. It is believed that when other particles get in touch with the Higgs field, it would gain mass.

In March 2013, the scientists working on the world's biggest atomic smasher, Hadron Collider, claimed that they have discovered a particle similar to the Higgs boson. The experiment officially proved, with the new particle attributed by a mass of 125Gev/c2. The team of scientists received a Nobel Prize for their contribution towards physics.

According to the revelation by Singh, the mass of the particle was already predicted by Homer 14 years ago.

'It's kind of amazing as Homer makes this prediction 14 years before it was discovered,' said Singh, as reported by the Independent.

“The Simpsons is the most mathematical TV show on prime-time television in history,” added Singh.
