And the long wait is over. Showtime’s hit series, "Homeland" Season 3 hits the tube on Sept 29 with its powerful casts and plot twists, the season opener lives up to its reputation. And the season’s premiere episode answers top questions that have been playing in your head before series three began.

Highlights of the season premiere on Sept 29:

1. Carrie Mathison is Out of Meds
Things are not looking up for Sgt. Brody’s sweetheart, Carrie Mathison. The premiere episode of Showtime’s hit series saw Carrie standing down from the Central Intelligence Agency and decided to turn to tequila and not her medicine to feel better.

With Brody as the “Most Unlocated Man in America,” Carrie seems to be out of control and blames herself for practically everything: from the massive destruction to terrorists getting away with the attacks, leading to congressional hearing faced by CIA.

"It was right in front of my eyes, and I never saw it coming," Carrie said as she has left no stones unturned, locating Brody in the past two months.

2. Sgt. Nicholas Brody is America’s Most Wanted
Two months after the massive bombings at Langley that killed hundreds of CIA personnel and top government officials, including the vice president of the United States of America, Sgt. Nicholas Brody remains at large.

Brody is the number one suspect following the incident, with the video confession that made the airwaves shortly after the massive bombing. While the finale in last season saw Carrie helping him to get out of the country, the CIA agent finds herself locating the man of her life and tried to map out where Brody could be (or could not be) in the last two months since the bombing.

3. CIA Under Fire; Senate Conducted Hearing on Massive Bombing
Though expected, the Senate has spearheaded a closed-door hearing on the massive bombing at Langley two months back. Carrie, who has been established as not connected to the agency any longer, faced the congressional committee and answered questions surrounding the attacks.

Still blaming herself, Carrie was quick to point the finger at herself on what she could have missed that led to the attacks. She is, in fact, CIA’s point person on Abu Nazir, the man behind the attacks.

"You are hiding something ... You are doing, and have done great harm, to your country, which you will pay for one day, I promise you," the chairman said in a threatening tone.

"If you're asking if he outsmarted me, yes he did. If you're asking if I will ever forgive myself, I won't," the visibly shaken Carrie said.

Carrie faces the committee hearing with Saul Berenson (Mandy Patinkin) who is now the CIA director, following the death of David Estes.

4. The Brody Family Faces a Number of Challenges: From Financial Crisis to being Harassed by the Media and Likely Becoming Dysfunctional
With Brody out of sight and nowhere to be seen, media is feeding on his poor family. The Brody family is seen facing a number of crisis, including financial, with no source of income to support their needs. Brody’s wife, Jessica, is running out of means to make ends meet. Worse, their daughter Dana is equally becoming a magnet of troubles.

Dana attempted to commit suicide. Season 3 premiere episode saw Dana coming home from the hospital. Instead of having dinner to family, the still troubled teen retreated to her room and decided to get naked and sent a photo of nude selfie to new boyband of a boyfriend.

5. Meet the CIA Hearththrob, Peter Quinn and Why is He Building a Bomb?
Will Peter Quinn be Carrie’s Knight in the absence of Brody? It could be recalled that there was some hints of flirting on Peter’s part when he first met Carrie. But knowing he will never be able to compete with Brody, he focused on his job, overseeing the surveillance against the war veteran instead.

Season 3 premieres saw Peter becoming hotter than he did in the last part of the Season 2. The season kicks off with Peter in various scenes, shirtless, showing off his oiled abs in a room in Caracas, building a bomb.

While Peter ‘s abs could be distracting, him building a bomb created quite a stir just the same. Why is he building a bomb? Is he the New Brody?
