Samsung Galaxy A5 and A7 2017 are identical in terms of design, features and specs. These smartphones have recently been launched and are facing a lot of competition in the mid-range segment. One such smartphone is the OnePlus 3T.

The OnePlus handset offers a better processor, bigger battery, higher RAM and a bigger screen at a slightly higher price. The Galaxy handsets and the OnePlus device vary a lot in terms of design but few of their specs are very similar. Thus, the choice depends a lot on a buyer’s preference for a brand. Hardcore Samsung loyalists will never look elsewhere despite OnePlus scoring more in most areas. However, when it comes to sheer value for money, OnePlus 3T wins as it offers an equally high performance, if not more, compared to the Galaxy devices, reports The Mobile Indian.

The device is one of the strongest competitors of A5 and A7 2017 in the market today. The Galaxy A5 and A7 2017 handsets have 5.2-inch and 5.7-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreens, 1080 x 1920 pixels screen resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection. Always-on display is also available. Both run on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow and have 1.9GHz Cortex-A53 Exynos 7880 Octa-core chipsets and Mali-T830MP3 GPU. Both come with 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage options, expandable up to 256GB via microSD card.

Both the Galaxy handsets have 16MP primary cameras with f/1.9, 27mm, autofocus and LED flash. Other camera features include geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, panorama and HDR. The cameras can capture 1080p videos at 30fps. The handsets also have 16MP secondary cameras with f/1.9 and 1080p recording capability. FM Radio is present unlike in the OnePlus handset. In the Samsung sets, the fingerprint scanners are front-mounted. Fast-charging capability is also available. The A5 2017 smartphone has a 3,000 mAh non-removable battery, compared to A7 2017’s 3,600mAh non-removable battery.

The Samsung handsets are IP68 certified, making them dust and waterproof. Samsung Pay is included. The OnePlus 3T handset has a 5.5-inch Optic AMOLED capacitive touchscreen and 1080 x 1920 pixels screen resolution. It also has the same Gorilla Glass protection and Oxygen OS 4.0.2 above Marshmallow. The Android OS can be upgraded to Nougat 7.0. It comes with a Snapdragon 821 chipset and Adreno 530 GPU. There is no microSD card slot but an internal storage of 64GB and 128GB. There is also a 6GB RAM.

Interestingly, the OnePlus device also has 16MP camera at the rear and front. The rear camera has f/2.0, phase detection autofocus, OIS and LED flash. Other features include 1/2.8" sensor size, 1.12µm pixel size, geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, panorama and HDR. It can record 2160p videos @30fps, 720p videos @120fps and also has Auto HDR. It too has a front-mounted fingerprint scanner. Due to the presence of Dash Charge, the handset can charge 60 percent in just 30 minutes. The battery has a capacity of 3,400mAh, reviews GSMArena.
