There's no need to share your credit card information or do a jailbreak at the risk of losing your warranty in order to customize or load apps to your new iPhone or iPad. Thousands of amazing apps ranging from business to gaming, entertainment to educational are available at the App Store.

The notion that the App Store doesn't allow you to download free iPhone apps without registering credit card details is a fallacy.

Having a no-money-attached account helps you avoid paying for apps when most -- if not all -- paid apps have their free counterparts.

Skype, Google+, Google Maps, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Temple Run, and thousands of other great apps can be downloaded free of charge.

Using your Windows or Mac PC, try these quick steps for setting up an iTunes App Store account and downloading apps even if you have no credit card or if you are not comfortable sharing your credit card information:

1. If you don't have iTunes on your computer, download it from the

Apple site.

2. If you have existing accounts, make sure you are logged out.

3. Pick your country from the pop-up menu at the bottom of the iTunes Store homepage.

4. Navigate to the App Store by clicking on the "App Store" link from the menu on the left.

5. Look for free apps at the App Store then choose one app. Click on the "Get App" button.

4. You will get a screen that asks you to log in. Instead, click on the button that says "Create New Account."

5. When you arrive at the "Welcome to the iTunes Store" window, click on "Continue."

6. You'll be asked to review the Terms of Service for the iTunes account. Click in the box that says "I have read and agree to iTunes Terms and Conditions" and click on the button that says "Continue."

7. Enter a valid and active e-mail address for the Apple ID. Select a password and security question, enter your birthday, and choose whether or not you want to receive iTunes mailings. Then click "Continue."

8. You'll reach the "Provide a Payment Method" section. Discard the line-up of credit cards at the top of the screen and instead click a circle for "None." Then enter your name and address in the billing address spaces, and click on "Continue."

9. You'll then see a screen that says 'Verify your Account.' Click "Done" and go check your e-mail.

10. Open the mail and you'll find an e-mail in your inbox with a link to complete your account set-up. Click on the link. You may be directed back to iTunes through your Web browser, or prompted to open iTunes.

11. You'll reach a screen that says "Your iTunes Store Account has been successfully created." You can take one of the offered tutorials, or click on "Done" to go to the iTunes storefront.

Now you have successfully created an iTunes App Store Account without your credit card details.
