The Boston Red Sox have reportedly added a free agent in Christin Stewart to the mix.

According to a report by Rob Bradford of WEEI, the former Detroit Tigers outfielder has agreed to a minor league deal with the Red Sox.

Stewart will add organizational depth to Boston who also reportedly came to terms with another outfielder in Rob Refsnyder.

Bradford’s report also detailed that Stewart received an invitation to major league spring training.

However, his chances of making the Red Sox's Opening Day roster do not look promising. Instead, the 27-year-old is likely to begin the 2022 season at Triple-A Worcester.

In 2021, Stewart spent all of 2021 at Triple-A Toledo. He batted .254 with 21 homers, 58 RBIs and a .877 OPS in 89 games or 343 plate appearances.

In his career, Stewart has appeared in 157 big league games between 2018 and 2020, where he batted .225 with 15 home runs, 59 RBIs and a .676 OPS across 586 plate appearances.

Although he has proven to do well offensively, Stewart needs to push himself more to get back to the big leagues.

Another aspect of his game is the need to work on his defensive side, something that has been rated as below-average.

The native of Georgia spent seven seasons with the Tigers before becoming a free agent this MLB offseason.
